Pea was bred and
born in the Wisconsin at the commercial breeding facility registered by the
USDA to Yvonne Skinner. He languished for weeks in a filthy cage in the
notorious Noah's Ark pet shop in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, at the mercy of
neglectful and sometimes abusive sales people, until his "mom" took
Because of poor
breeding, chronic health problems, and emotional scars due to his background,
Pea was not generally a sociable dog. However, to those few people who were
lucky enough to earn his love and trust, he was a staunch, loyal, and
Pea Buddy's short,
frequently pain-filled life, was the inspiration for his "mom" to
spearhead the fight for tough, self-funding, enforceable new laws to put an end
to pet profiteering.

NOTE: It took
12 years, but on 1 December 2009, Governor Doyle signed
WI Act 90, the
ground-breaking Wisconsin Dog Seller's Law, which, with the addition of
Rules, went into effect on 1 June 2011.
